What some have to say about Will Kraus
Issues

Fiscal Responsibility
Will believes we must balance the budget. That is why he voted against his party’s leadership and voted no on this year’s budget. Democrat Governor Nixon cut close to $300 million before signing the budget. Will was the only candidate in this race that voted no on the budget. Will never forgets that legislators are spending taxpayers’ money.

Lower Taxes
Will is opposed to tax increases.  He is the only candidate that sponsored and passed a bill that cut taxes. HB 82 cut taxes on our retired Missourians.  Will is also against fee increases and this year he successfully fought a fee increase on our utility bills.

Jobs - Economic Development – Keeping Missourians Working
As a small business owner, Will believes improving our economy is vital.  To protect jobs, Will has and will continue to fight tax or fee increases on businesses.  He wants our businesses and industries to be able to keep more of their own capital so they can invest that money and put Missourians back to work.

Small Business
As a small business owner, Will understands the concerns of the small business community.  Will received a 100 percent rating from the National Federation of Independent Businesses.

Pro-Life
Will has been endorsed by Missouri Right to Life every time he has run for office. He has also been endorsed by Missourians United for Life.  He supports legislation that affirms the sanctity of the life of an unborn child and protects the life of the mother.

Education a Priority
With five family members who have taught in Missouri schools, Will understands the critical importance of education.  Will supports full funding of the foundation formula for our schools and opposes open enrollment.  He has been endorsed by the Missouri National Education Association, Missouri Association of School Administrators (MASA), Missouri Association of Elementary School Principals (MAESP), Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals (MASSP), and Missouri Council of Career & Technical Administrators (MCCTA).

Ethical Representation
Will believes that our citizens deserve the highest degree of ethical representation in Jefferson City and he has always handled himself accordingly.  Bucking his own party’s leadership, he spoke out that recent ethics reform should be strengthened to ensure that our elected officials represent the people and not their own or special interests.

Veterans
Our freedom is due to those who have served in our Armed Forces.  As a Veteran, Will knows first hand the sacrifices our Veterans have made, and he honors their sacrifices by fighting for legislation to help our military men and women.  Effective in this battle, Will sponsored and passed a tax cut for military retirees.

Protecting Families
In his six years as a state representative, Will has fought for legislation to protect our children. He has passed legislation that prohibits sex offenders from being little league coaches and keeps sex offenders from loitering in parks with playground equipment and near our public swimming pools.  Children are safer from sexual predators due to his efforts.   Will shares our values of family, faith and freedom.  He believes that marriage should be defined as a union between one woman and one man.

Open Government
Will believes in serving the people first.  He plans to continue his six-year tradition of holding a town hall meeting every spring break to discuss what is happening in the Capitol. He will continue District Day where he invites constituents to visit the Capitol and when he personally spends time with them to answer questions.  He will continue his tradition of publishing an electronic newsletter with news from the Capitol. In numerous ways, Will has always kept lines of communication open and transparent. He believes that his job is about listening to the people.

Health Care Freedom
Will was out front on legislation to put the issue of federal health care on the state ballot.  He believes in allowing our citizens, by their own vote, to voice their opinion on burdensome federal mandates and government intrusion into personal health care decisions.

Illegal Immigration
Will believes that we cannot tolerate illegal activity, and he has supported tough laws against illegal immigration passed during his time in the General Assembly.

Support for Second Amendment
As an 18-year member of the Armed Forces, Will understands the importance of our Second Amendment right to bear arms and he will fight to protect those rights.

Cap and Trade
Will has been a leader in opposing the federal Cap and Trade legislation, which would double or triple our utility bills and drive businesses out of Missouri. Will has authored legislation to explain to our federal officials the impact on Missouri if Cap and Trade is passed.

Drug Testing for Welfare Recipients
Will was the first to draft and offer an amendment to require drug testing for welfare recipients. He believes that we should not allow people who are breaking the law and using drugs to receive taxpayer dollars in benefits.
