Will's leadership experience began eighteen years ago when he joined the U. S. Army as a mechanized infantryman. After serving on active duty, he attended Central Missouri State University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a minor in Military Science, graduating Summa Cum Laude. While in college, Will continued his service in the Army National Guard. In April of 1998, Will joined F Company 158th Aviation, U.S. Army Reserve as a Second Lieutenant.
Will spent from March of 2003 to April 2004 leading men and women in a combat zone. As the leader of his Company's ground convoy into Iraq and while serving as an Air Mission Commander in charge of missions involving multiple aircraft, his decisions have been responsible for hundreds of soldier's lives. Will has flown soldiers in risky missions and in dangerous areas. Currently, Will serves as a Captain and the Battalion S4, Supply Officer.
Will and his wife, Carmen, have been continually involved in our community. Since their son, Tylor, started school in 1998 they have been members of the Parent Teacher Association. Carmen is the Recreation Director at First Baptist Church, where she runs all the sports leagues from Upward football to adult volleyball. Will is currently coaching his youngest son Tannor's Upward Basketball team, where he enjoys teaching values like teamwork and sportsmanship to his players. Will believes in giving back to his community by helping shape the children who will become tomorrow's leaders.
As a Representative, Will has focused on implementing real solutions for Missouri’s problems. Will states, "I believe providing our children with a quality education should be the state's number one priority." He will fight for more education funding for our schools. Moreover, Will wants to make sure our taxes are used for the purposes that they were intended. He will fight for accountability in our government and fight to cut waste. Another big priority of his is to bring jobs and economic development to our area. He wants to encourage new business and will work hard to ensure we attract high quality jobs with great pay and benefits to eastern Jackson County. Finally, Will works to find solutions to help seniors such as freezing property tax increases on seniors with fixed incomes. In everything that he does, Will brings sound conservative principles and a dedication to ethical standards of legislative conduct.
